Single Family Home vs. Duplex

« Back to Glossary Index

Single Family Residence: This is a standalone house designed for a family. It doesn’t share walls with any other houses, offering more privacy and usually a private yard.

Duplex: A duplex is a single building divided into two separate units, each with its own entrance. It’s like having two apartments, but they share a common wall. This can be a good investment property, where you live in one unit and rent out the other. This would be a good option to look at even if you are renting. Buying an investment property could potentially pay your current rent!
